JULIETTE MARTINEZ

Hip Hop

Born and raised in San Diego, Juliette Martinez began dancing at the age of two. Juliette fell in love with Evoke Dance Movement in 2010 and received the majority of her training in contemporary, jazz, lyrical, ballet, tap, and hip hop choreography during her seven years at Evoke. Juliette graduated with honors from Orange County School of the Arts in the Commercial Dance Conservatory in 2018. During high school, she toured the country as an assistant for Velocity Dance Convention, ASH Dance Convention, and various esteemed choreographers, and was a YoungArts Winner in 2017. Upon moving to Los Angeles to attend UCLA, she continued to work professionally, with credits including So You Think You Can Dance, the Youtube Streamy Awards, LA Opera: La Traviata, Generation on HBO Max, and performances with artists, such as Madison Beer, Hailee Steinfeld, Now United, and more.

Juliette earned a B.A. in Dance and a B.A. in Gender Studies from UCLA in 2022. Throughout her time at UCLA, Juliette explored her choreographic voice and presented new works that combined her prior knowledge of contemporary-based movement with her newfound passion for Street Dance. After intensely training as a member of Versa-Style Next Generation, Juliette gained a deep understanding and appreciation of history, vocabulary, and freestyle in the Street Dance forms of Hip Hop, House, and Popping. She was Director for an on-campus Hip Hop dance team and successfully created an authentic Street Dance curriculum. Following graduation, she is continuing to build her knowledge in dance forms to better serve as a guide, mentor, and choreographer to the next generation. As an active member of the Street Dance community, Juliette is excited to continue honoring Hip Hop culture, participating in Street Dance forms, and preserving the history of these forms to share with the passionate and talented dancers at Evoke Dance Movement.
