MAKERS (Ages 2-3 & 4-5) - By Christa Alleyn

AGES 2-3 (Tuesdays 9:30-10:15am)

The 2–3-year-old program provides Early Childhood Dance Foundations and is designed to give young dancers a confident and technically sound start to their dance journey. Built on the core elements of dance—Body, Action, Space, Time, and Energy—these classes offer intentional training that supports healthy development and prepares children for future dance technique.

Through carefully structured exercises, dancers begin learning posture, alignment, coordination, musicality, and rhythm. They explore movement with purpose, gradually developing the skills needed for more formal ballet, jazz, and contemporary training. Each class is taught with a deep understanding of early childhood development and the importance of establishing correct movement patterns from the very beginning.

I focus on creating a positive, encouraging environment while maintaining an emphasis on focus, listening skills, and body awareness. Children learn to move safely, confidently, and expressively, all while building the foundation for long-term success in dance.

My goal is to nurture capable, confident young movers who enter their next level of training with the strength, discipline, and technical groundwork needed to thrive.

AGES 4-5 (Tuesdays 10:30-11:30am)

The 4–5-year-old program continues building Early Childhood Dance Foundations while introducing a higher level of technical readiness and body control. These classes expand on the core elements of dance—Body, Action, Space, Time, and Energy—offering intentional training that further strengthens coordination, alignment, musicality, and overall movement quality.

At this stage, dancers begin to broaden their dance vocabulary by learning more defined steps, positions, and movement terminology. Foundational skills in ballet, jazz, and contemporary are reinforced through structured exercises that develop balance, transitions, and controlled movement. Children are also introduced to basic acro elements, such as safe introductory rolls, weight transfers, bridges, and beginning strength and flexibility exercises, all taught with proper technique and safety in mind.

The class environment remains positive and encouraging while placing greater emphasis on focus, listening, and sequencing. Dancers practice short combinations, learn to count music more independently, and gain confidence performing movement patterns both individually and in small groups. These experiences help children move with increased intention, precision, and expressive ability.

My goal is to guide young dancers toward their next level of training with strong foundational technique, growing terminology, body awareness, and the confidence needed to succeed as they progress into more formal and disciplined dance classes.
